We all have grown up hearing, ‘change is the only constant’. And we are okay
with changes in our lives and take it in our strides with aplomb. But this year
has tested us with its rapid and unexpected changes without letting us prepare
for what awaits us at the next turn. We have been doing this for almost a year,
so how have we managed to adapt to these very unusual circumstances and kept
a sense of stability alive?
We have rebelled against the unwanted changes, we have lost control and then
gained it to lose it again. We have felt the effects mentally, physically and
financially. This constant power battle with a very unknown disease has taken
its toll on us. But how have we managed to find some semblance of a routine
within this constantly weaving cloud of unparalleled disarray? How are we
sailing through these turbulent times, when we achieve tranquility to some
degree to get sucked right back into the vortex of chaos?
The answer lies within all of us. This very distinctive feature of human nature,
the adaptability that is resilient yet fragile at the same time. It might not feel like
we have the power to create some meaning in our lives when there is a lack of
normality in the world. We have managed to find routine in our corner, and this
has nourished us when we felt we have no power. All of us are intricately
woven together in this fight against this disease and it is this collective power
that is our source of sustenance. This collective human effort will enable us to
ride through this storm. And while this happens, all we need to do is go from
one day to the next.
